Buying power tools for my husband. Brands?

Hello everyone,

I'm purchasing a tool set for my husband. I have selected a Makita Lithiom-Ion tool set for him that includes a drill, an impact drill, a light and a circular saw (whatever that is). The price is quite hefty (over $400 for the set).

My question is, is Makita a good brand? I've never heard of this brand.

It seems to be top rated, but I wondering if I should buy Dewalt, Skil or Milwakee instead. I'm trying to replace that piece of crap Black and decker set that i gave him for chrismas a couple of years back LOL.

Your thoughts?
